Abraham & Adam

'Abraham & Adam' - "Why shouldn't art be pretty? There are enough unpleasant things in the world". Pierre-Auguste Renoir (1841-1919). Renoir believed in beauty and often depicted pictures of pretty children in his paintings. This version of Impressionism is more crisp and defined. The two boys look striking and the passage of time is depicted from the shadows. This picture also incorporates elements from Bazille's style but with a modern touch: The subject figure is placed within the landscape painted in the open air.
